Followup-Flexible Mechanism

The UN Secretary General, in his Climate Action Summit 2019 Report, has  included the Greek proposal on the protection of cultural heritage from the impacts of climate change, and proposed, upon the recommendation of the Greek Government, the creation of a follow-up mechanism. The goal of the Flexible Mechanism is to promote and accelerate  the implementation of actions and cooperation schemes, to bridge scientific knowledge and climate mitigation and adaptation tools with informed decision making by the interested States and to enhance the relevant research. The Flexible Mechanism is composed of one representative from each of the following:

➢ Hellenic Republic

➢ UNESCO

➢ WMO

➢ UNFCC

The representative of the Hellenic Republic acts as the Coordinator of the Flexible Mechanism.
