Academy of Athens

The Research Center for Atmospheric Physics and Climatology of the Academy of Athens (abr. As Academy of Athens) has been one of the pillars of the Greek Initiative for the protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage from Climate Change. The member of the Academy, Professor Christos Zerefos, under his role as the Hellenic State Envoy for Climate contributed to the engagement of WMO to the Greek Initiative. Important has been also the effort of the Academy of Athens in achieving the support of ICOMOS, Europa Nostra, the Group on Earth Observations and Elliniki Etairia. The Academy of Athens is hosting the Greek Initiative at its premises providing scientific and administrative support. In addition, the Ministry of Education together with the Academy of Athens have organized an International M.Sc. degree program for the “Protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage from the Effects of Climate Change”, which will be offered by the Hellenic Open University as a distance learning English course, starting from the academic year 2021-2022.
